Nick Cannon Kidney Failure: As Nick Cannon continues to recover from what his wife Mariah Carey "mild kidney failure," the future of the health of the host of America's Got Talent is in question. Dr. Bryan Becker, immediate past President of the National Kidney Foundation, took time to chat with people about the condition of the cannon, and what may be ahead in terms of his health. What is mild renal insufficiency? Normally, when this happens, medically, we call it acute kidney damage. When Nick was being evaluated, someone probably did test his serum creatinine and creatinine was high and there was some decrease in kidney function. What causes decreased renal function, might have been due to an illness of any kind or take an over-the-counter as Motrin or Advil. Might also be due to dehydration. What kind of disease can cause this? Could be problems of pneumonia or stomach which decrease the fluid. How quickly it will recover? Depends on the cause. If it is connected only to the liquid, is probably going to recover very quickly once back fluid. If it is connected to the drug, it will take a couple of days to get out of the drug. If it is connected to another disease, it gets better over time. He could easily relapse? Depends on the cause, but usually when the person is acute, tends to get better.
